Target Find: 75% off Sony Reader Pocket Edition

I read on this week that some people had found the Sony Reader Pocket Edition on clearance at Target for only $37.48 (regularly $149.99). The Sony Reader is similar to the Kindle, but I have not read the pros and cons of each so I am not sure how they compare.

I checked Target store inventory online and found that the Addison store had limited quantities left, so I headed over and bought the last one. The price tag still read “$104.98,” but because I had read on that they were 75% off, I scanned it at the store.

Always scan clearance items at Target because I have found that the price sticker is incorrect about a third of the time when I double check them at the scanner.

When I purchased the Reader, the Target employee warned me that these are “old” and that’s why they’re deeply discounted. I hope that doesn’t mean this particular model will become obsolete in less than a year, but for now I am excited to have one so I can load children’s books on it. My daughter has to read at least 10 minutes per night for school, and there are many times when I wish I had books for her to read (at doctor appointments, during long car rides, etc.). The Sony Reader fits nicely in my purse, and I can check out and load many books from the Dallas Public Library at no cost!

In addition to buying the Sony Reader, I also picked up two accessories at 75% off – an AC Adapter for $7.50 and a Cover with Light for $13.74.

The end caps were newly filled with clearance items at the three Targets I visited this week, so if you stop by, be sure to do an end cap run!
